Every year the community of Carbondale and Mountain Fair welcome us with open arms, happy greetings, and the rainbow of the Oasis Stage. This three-day fair features live music, dancing, wood-splitting, hula hoop and limbo competitions, amazing artisans, and so much more. They have a main stage for adult entertainment and a stage devoted just to kid's entertainment. All of the entertainment at the fair is free!
2014 marks our 6th year of performing at Mountain Fair! In that time we've gotten to know a lot of the community, like these two little poncho-ed girls who beg us to take them back stage so they can poke around and see what's happening. Every year we stay with friends who generously host us in their home. Backstage is lavishly decorated with couches, lights, and art pieces created by local artists. The whole fair is mostly volunteer-powered and is a zero-waste event (no plastic water bottles allowed here, there are water filling stations for your reusable water bottles instead). The blend of community oriented events like wood-splitting competitions, kid-friendly entertainment, commitment to sustainability, and incredible support of artists and musicians make this event a favorite of our summer.
This year our Carbondale friends were excited to learn that we're having our first baby in November. We already have several volunteers to babysit during our show next summer!
Here's some shots from our Sunday show. Thanks Carbondale Mountain Fair, we'll see you in 2015.
